The Adivasi Arts Trust (www.adivasiartstrust.org) is a UK-based charity that works to preserve and promote indigenous art, culture knowledge and storytelling through animation and digital media.
A greater awareness of Indian tribal culture in India, the United Kingdom and further afield widens understanding of its unique artistic value. Our long-term collaboration with indigenous people creates a synergy of traditional and modern skills to help them to adapt to the new world. By strengthening awareness about their culture this also helps these artists to develop and publicize their artwork for a sustainable source of income.
The Adivasi Arts Trust has received grants from the Bryan Guinness Charitable Trust, National Geographic All Roads, the Commonwealth Foundation, Indian Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) and from Awards for All (UK).
The Trust has contacts with many tribal artists and it has tribal art and cultural consultants in India as associate members.
The Trust has collaborated with educational and cultural institutions in India and in the United Kingdom including the National Institute of Design (Gujarat), Jamia Millia Islamia (New Delhi), Rajiv Gandhi University (Arunachal Pradesh) Centurion University (Orissa) and Graphic Era Hill University (Uttrakhand), the India International Centre, the British Council, the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (India), and with the Nehru Centre, the Rebecca Hossack Gallery, the Horniman Museum and the New Art Exchange Gallery in UK.
